Internship, final thesis or study
UNSA is over lots of years seen by schools and Universities as an important partner in student placements. The foundation is mainly involved in helping students and sometimes even ex-students to get either a practical internship, final thesis project or helps with obtaining work for a short or long duration. UNSA helps with the applicable visa, work- or study permit as well. This can be for students going from the Netherlands or Flanders to South Africa or the other way around.
In order to make use of UNSA's services, UNSA asks a small fee of 2 payments (see enrolment fee for details). The first fee makes it possible to get in touch with an employer, the second fee becomes applicable when the contract / invitation is signed.
The following service becomes applicable:
We help finding a suitable placement and assist with the whole process and paperwork requirements of going to South Africa.
- Assists in getting the right paperwork for the right application
- Getting you in touch with your future employer.
- Help when needed in getting accommodation.
- Arrange a reliable and economic flight.
- Help you getting in touch with other UNSA students.
- Up to date overview of the latest personal matters via the interactive Website.
1. Assists in getting the right paperwork for the right application
It is very important to get the right paperwork because the South African embassy in The Hague is very strict on forms. If one of the forms is not filled in properly, they won't give you permission to enter South Africa. We assist where required you filling out the right forms that are necessary for school and your prospective employer. Assist you and your future employer in getting the right work- travel- and medical insurances. You must realize that you are 10.000 km away from The Netherlands. If anything might happen we make sure that you get the best possible assistance.
2. Getting you in touch with your future employer
Getting you in touch with your future employer is the core business of UNSA. We have the connections and experience with South African employers. We will negotiate on your be halve and where possible negotiate on conditions for a possible remuneration.
3. Help when needed in getting accommodation
UNSA can assist in finding accommodations nearby your future employer. This can either be via one of the addresses we use for some time now, like an address of a commune or a backpacker or via students who you can contact close to your work address. You must realise that South Africa is 33 times as big as The Netherlands and that public transportation still is virtually non-existing.
4. Arrange a reliable and economic flight
UNSA has good connections with different flight companies in order to offer students reliable / economic flights. When arriving in South Africa we always arrange a pick up from the airport. But you are also responsible for approaching your prospective employer to ask him to meet you at the airport. When we have booked your flight and you are with a group of students, when arriving on Johannesburg International Airport we always try to be there together with your employer to meet you, if it is another airport it will be your future employer who will pick you up.
5. Help you getting in touch with other UNSA students
We get you in touch with other students that are also going to South Africa or with students who are already there. You can exchange experiences and discuss doing things together. This is best done on the Student Weekends we arrange a number of times a year. This is a fantastic gathering where a lot of students from all over the country will meet each other and enjoy a fantastic combination of Safari's, also in the Krugerpark, at the same time.
6. Up to date overview of the latest personal matters via the interactive Website
Up to date overview of your personal matters provides you information about all the things that you need in South Africa.
- Which paperwork already is approved and which has not
- You can see whether UNSA has got an employer for you

Your account even makes it possible for people at home (school, parents, friends) to see where you are, what your (mobile-) telephone number is.
Short - and Study visits
Thanks to its close contacts with flight companies and travel agencies, UNSA can also arrange short visits and study excursions. We often help parents or students with flights and tours and assist when they have special requirements.
